Brake Re-Lining

In the early 1970’s Keith McKenzie realised there was a market for commercial vehicle exchange brake shoes. To provide a service for the Mechanic giving out relined brake shoes and taking in return the old worn dirty brake shoes.

So with a counter balance riveter, hammer and punch he started the service. Over the next 30 years watch the business grow employing two people full time doing nothing else.

With the introduction of Brake Pads the exchange service has greatly reduced. But still today we are the only place in the North that can reline brake shoes while you wait.

The workshop facility we have now is a long way removed from those early days.

We have pneumatic machines for riveting and de-riveting. We have a sandblaster with dust extraction and a waste corner to dispose of old material. The personnel involved are audited twice a year. The equipment we use is calibrated and we are a Ferodo approved Brake Reline Centre.

We can outsource any brake shoes, pads or bands that may require bonding.

As there is now an up-turn in the market for relined shoes once again, we are in a position to supply our customers with a quality service and original equipment supply of Ferodo material.
